Passing On

This week's deleted scene is delayed due to technical difficulties (back up your shit folks!).  Instead I thought I'd just post a few worthwhile links.

Sadly, two great artists passed away this Friday, Carlo Rambaldi and David Rakoff.  You've probably heard David Rakoff's funny and curmudgeonly poiniant writing and voice on This American Life, where he might be best remembered for his Christmas Freud story.

David Rakoff (New York Times)

Carlo Rambaldi, even if you don't know his name, probably helped populate your dreams or nightmares, especially if you're a child of the 80's.  He's most famous for designing and building E.T., but also created some of the amazing creatures of DUNE and built the animatronic head for the titular character in ALIEN.  He once appeared in court for the defense of director Lucio Fulci, who was on trial for animal cruelty.  The animal in question was an effect, and the case was dismissed when Rambaldi brought in the very convincing puppet used in the film (Lizard In A Woman's Skin).

Finally, so as to not leave you on a down note, here's a really interesting post from Row 3 about the top ten lists of some famous directors:
